Now how many of us have lived the life of a nomad, relocating to newer destinations every couple of years, adding to the already existing inventory, holding to the older worthless stuff and moving on again. A Soldier’s better- half understands precisely what I am discussing. Well when the inevitable movement knocks on your door every year, following a few transports you are quite an expert whatsoever. 1. The day you move into your new location open a Recurring Deposit as high or low as you need with your own bank. The deposit over the period of your tenure would leave you with enough cash to cater to costs linked to the bag-baggage and self move when its time only once again. Try it, it’ll save a lot of unnecessary worrying!2. Get appropriate wooden crates for the larger fragile electronic items such as your fridge, television, washing machine etc..3. Have all of your boxes numbered. Get all of your locks and their respective keys labeled with the box amounts. 4. Down into the packaging front. Keep the following in mindA) Start with matters you aren’t going to need immediately at your new destination e.g. the decorative pieces in your living room.B) Do remember the climate at the new destination, if its expected to be bright and sunny you can pack up all the woolens and vice-versa.5. ALWAYS have a little package with the minimum bare essentials from your kitchen to allow you set up a small kitchenette at your new location to appeal to toddlers and once in a while experiences for your own self. Things like a small skillet, a small pressure cooker plus a few saucepans. Perhaps even just a little sugar, tea leaves and some legumes, pasta, pasta and a couple of condiments in small zip lock pouches so you can lose out on a rush into the grocery store also. The miniature box opens up and you are able to cook a simple meal or a cup of tea on your own. Trust me it’ll help.6. Attempt to have a garage sale of all of the things you haven’t utilized in past two tenures and for the ones you believe you are not likely to utilize. It can be a little difficult to associate with them occasionally but it will go a long way clearing up the clutter and maybe even help you feel a bit less guilty on your overindulgence with maintaining pace with the latest in trend.7. The secret to not ending up with broken things would be to pack them tightly with no space in between for them to move from where they have been tucked away of motion on a weathered terrain through transport.8. It’s always a fantastic idea to recycle old newspapers and poly bags, yet another fantastic use is to store them and possess them shred to be used as packaging material for cushioning and to fill gaps in between articles to avoid their breakage and movement.9. It’s a smart idea to have a wooden box lined with felt for permanent use as your crockery box.10. Another trick is to have plastic sheets repaired /nailed into the lids of these boxes to protect water seepage in the top at a worst case scenario.11. Wooden boxes are somewhat lesser prone to breakages and offer better security to the material inside.12. Quite similarly the novels and clothing items should rather go into a trunk rather than a wooden box for obvious reasons!13. An extremely useful lesser known tip is to pack your complete plates and quarter plates vertically with cushioning in between each. This can be largely averted by packing these plates vertically instead of horizontally14. 15. Consider wrapping your crockery in your clothes items. Try filling up larger utensils with grocery and so on, its an effective space management hint.16. Do not have your fridge, dishwasher and washing machine functioning until the last minute, in case you do not allow the moisture within dry up there is every possibility of you finding unwanted odour and even fungus when you open them up.17. Use the space within these larger electrical appliances also, e.g. you can package your cushions within your fridge which even prevent the racks out of moving skelter inside the fridge. Before you do this please ensure that the refrigerator is dried.18. It’s a must to have listings for each box together with details of this inventory packed within. Have another in a separate folder. This does wonders for understanding where to look for what, without flaws.Happy packaging… Happy moving and Joyful unpacking folks! Remember it is the rolling stones that gather no moss afterall!
